GAZA, (PIC)-- Strikes have paralyzed the facilities of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip after the agency refused to answer to the demands of its staff.

The strike included schools where around half a million Gaza children are taught and health clinics serving around a million Palestinians after several partial strikes took place over the past few days.

Suhail al-Hindi, who heads the UNRWA staff union, during a press conference by him on Wednesday near UNRWA headquarters called on the agency's administration to retract decisions to lay off several teachers after the Palestinian judiciary acquitted them of charges placed against them, rulings UNRWA has so far not accepted.

Hindi warned to escalate measures against UNRWA administration unless it retracted its decision and met its employees' demands.

He also warned UNRWA against plans to integrate the Jewish holocaust in the educational curriculum, emphasizing the students' need to learn the Palestinian question. Hindi advised UNRWA to comply with the Palestinian educational curriculum.
