OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Former director of Israel's military intelligence Uri Saguy urged the Israeli government to accept the conditions set by Hamas Movement for the release of the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

Saguy said that Israel paid dearly in the past for its military mistakes and today it is demanded to bring Shalit back to his home at any price.

He also urged the government to open dialog with Hamas, saying that such dialog would help Israel to solve radical issues.

"I want to remind those who oppose the idea of talking with Hamas that we refused in the past to enter into negotiations with the Palestine liberation organization, but the circumstances forced us to talk with it," the Israeli official underlined.

He also stressed that making peace with Syria would be in the best interest of Israel and would solve the problem with Lebanon.

Saguy made his remarks in a press statement to Warrior magazine affiliated with the organization of disabled Israeli soldiers.
