SALFIT, (PIC)-- Hamas lawmaker Nasser Abdeljawad, who was released two months ago from Israeli jails, reported Monday that Mahmoud Abbas’s militias in Salfit still harass him and his family everyday and put him under constant surveillance for 24 hours.
In a press release, Abdeljawad said that Abbas’s security apparatuses put a tail on him and his family that follows them everywhere they go, adding that he has been suffering from this harassment since he was released.
He noted that Abbas’s security apparatuses interrogate his acquaintances, relatives and everyone he meets and maltreat them.
The lawmaker also said that he was followed and watched on Sunday evening as he was on his way to visit his bother-in-law, adding that Abbas’s militia searched the car of his brother-in-law and interrogated him after the visit.
Abbas’s militias confiscated an amount of personal money the lawmaker deposited with one of his relative at the pretext that this money belongs to Hamas. They also prevented, in an earlier incident, Palestinian citizens in Salfit from congratulating him after his release from Israeli jails.
For its part, the Hamas change and reform parliamentary bloc strongly denounced Abbas’s security apparatuses for harassing lawmaker Abdeljawad and his family and put them under surveillance.
The bloc expressed its dismay at the persistent violation of the political immunity enjoyed by Palestinian elected lawmakers in the West Bank, and called on human rights organization to assume its responsibilities and expose these illegal and immoral acts practiced against the representatives of the Palestinian people.
In another incident, Abbas’s militias kidnapped Monday Abdullah Qa’kour, a Hamas candidate in 2006 elections in Al-Khalil, after summoning him.
Qa’kour’s family held Abbas fully responsible for the life of their son especially since he suffers from health problems in his kidneys, pointing that Israel kidnapped their son several times and detained him for a total of six years.
In addition to Qa’kour, Abbas’s militias kidnapped 12 other citizens affiliated with Hamas during the last two days in Tulkarem, occupied Jerusalem, Nablus and Qalqiliya.
